It is shown that, in existing acoustoelectronic correlation processors designed for processing spread-spectrum signals in mobile broadband communications systems, an appropriate choice of spectrum-spreading functions (SSFs) may substantially increase-by a factor of as much as 2.5-the signal bandwidth. It is also found that, in the UHF band, the replacement of lithium niobate as a substrate material in an acoustoelectronic convolver with barium titanate allows one to increase the dynamic range by about 10 dB.
