Shielding of a carrier-rocket (CR)-tracking-station (TS) telemetering link (TML) by the rocket's exhaust flame is considered. It is shown that shielding depends on the TS position on the Earth's surface and on the position of the CR on the trajectory; on the characteristics of the CR, the engine, and the medium; and on the operating frequency of the telemetering (TM) transmitter. Analytical expressions for the CR-TS TML shielding conditions are obtained. The fulfillment of these conditions over various flight-time intervals is investigated for actual launching parameters. The CR flight-time intervals during which a CR-TS TML is shielded by the flame are determined. The results obtained are compared to the results available in the literature.
