摘要

The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of carboxylation of latex on the interdiffusion of polymers in latex films and to relate this effect to the barrier properties of coated paper. A series of model sytrene/butyl acryalte latices were prepa- red and film formation properties both of non-carboxylated dis- persions and of latex dispersions copolymerized with methacrylic acid were studied. Interdiffusion in films dried at successively higher temperatures was studied by Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) in the tapping mode. The surface composition was analy- zed by Electron Spectroscopy for Chemical Analysis (ESCA).
