This article has presented a way to improve many features of traditional calendered spunbond fabrics and in doing so, create a new fabric. What applications this fabric has, and whether or not the fabric has sufficient cash flow potential to be realized in the manufacturing world, are beyond our scope of control. Looking at the coverstock market, for example, we may wonder if the advantages provided by spunlacing FCSB fabrics will enable these fabrics to have a value-added marketability over both traditional spunbond and carded fabrics. For coverstock fabrics, the general requirements are softness and rapid fluid transfer capability. We may also wonder if these attributes of spunlaced FCSB fabrics open doors to other applications, such as textile backsheet fabrics in diapers, where a major requirement is for softness and breathability.
