MULTI-STAPLE AIRLAY SYSTEMS FOR MACRO AIRLAID PRODUCTS

Because there is more than one type of airlaid system used by manufacturers, the term airlaid inevitably means something slightly different to each of us, based on our experience. Airlaid machines have been designed in various forms since the early 1940s. However today what we understand as "airlaid" represents a broad and diverse technology. The focus of this article is the multi-staple airlaid system which has been used by the non-wovens industry for many decades to make nonwovens for all kinds of applications. But first it is important to qualify what we mean by the term airlaid. Airlaid is the process of forming a web of fibers that are transported or carried by a controlled air stream and then condensed as a web onto some type of perforated belt, sieve drum, flat sieve screen or mesh. The best reason for adopting an airlaid system is due to the high added value that air-laid products have in the market. Additionally, there is a deficit of air-laid capacity to meet a growing demand for new airlaid products. The market has been steadily increasing over the years, and unlike many markets, this growth continues.
