Players across the nonwovens value chain are working hard to be more environmentally sustainable, whether that’s by developing less energy intensive machinery, recycling absorbent hygiene products (AHPs) or producing more sustainable raw materials. The latter point is of particular interest as it influences factors such as biodegradability and recyclability. And now that the European Union’s (EU) Single-Use Plastics Directive (SUPD) is forcing the industry to reduce plastic pollution, sustainable raw material innovations are needed more than ever.
