After the verdict last week O. J. Simpson climbed into his Chevy Suburban and, with his bodyguard driving, made his way home to his Brentwood estate. Along the way, as news helicopters whirled above, he stopped at a Baskin-Robbins for cookie-dough ice cream to bring to his children Sydney and Justin. When he got home to 360 North Rockingham, he gathered the children and other family members, including his older kids, Jason and Arnelle, and his sister Shirley Baker who is staying there. It was time to tell Sydney, 11, and Justin, 8, about the verdict—which declared their father responsible for killing their mother. According to Marjorie Fuller, the court-appointed lawyer who represented the two children during last year's custody battle, Simpson told them: "We're going to be OK. Our family is together." Then, she said, the kids did their homework and went to bed.
