Even millionaires like Bill Cleary can have trouble meeting women. The 12-year-old cofounder of the technology-communications firm CKS was recently divorced. So when it came time to start dating again, he headed to the hottest singles scene in Silicon Valley: the Web. His postings on Matchmaker.com, one of dozens of personals sites on . the Internet, have yielded e-mail correspondences with nearly 75 women—and four dates. "I have an old friend who was laughing at me for doing this," says Cleary. "Then I showed him the pictures of some of the women I've met online. Now he's coming over Thursday and wants me to sign him up." His friend will have plenty of company. With all those male entrepreneurs and engineers heading west, Silicon Valley now beats out An-chorage, Alaska, for the title of Guyville U.S.A., the area with the highest percentage of unmarried men.
