Robert hagstrom jr. is living proof that America is the land of opportunity. A year ago, Hagstrom was laboring in obscurity at a three-person money-management firm in Philadelphia. Today, he's not only famous, but he has a shot at becoming rich. Hagstrom's claim to fame is that his book about billionaire investor Warren Buffett, "The Warren Buffett Way," rocketed to best-sellerdom last year. His path to riches involves a new mutual fund that's supposed to pick stocks the way Hagstrom thinks Buffett picks stocks. The pitch for Hagstrom's Focus Trust: having studied Buffett since 1984 and written a book about him, Hagstrom has absorbed Buffett's investment approach and can produce Buffett-like returns. The catch: Hagstrom, 38, has no track record at picking stocks. Thus, investing with him is buying a pig in a poke.
