It began with the age-old siren song of the South, "Come on down, y'all," and will end with a 21st-century computer system dubbed FairTix. Between the initial invitation and the final arbitration lies the fate of millions of Americans who wish to attend the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta. The '96 Games, which bear the special distinction of being the Centennial Olympics, have already sparked extraordinary excitement across the nation. Surveys conducted by the Atlanta Committee for the Olympic Games (ACOG) indicate one in five households, or about 20 million Americans, have expressed interest in an Atlanta vacation come July of 1996.
