For half a century, the international automobile industry has been a vital element of the United States economy. In fact, sales of international brands account for more than half of the total U.S. auto market. Some 11,000 international nameplate automobile franchises sell and service more than 30 brands. These retailers have a positive economic impact both nationally and locally, providing more than 500,000 American jobs.
