Temporary Switchout Tablet Stations

Often track work, such as grade easements or bridge repairs, required the laying of a service siding to do the work. When this work was done in a section of line controlled by the Tyer tablet system, then it was the normal practice for such a service siding to be tablet locked. However in cases where the work involved frequent movements onto the main line by crane, donkey engine or work trains, a temporary switch-out tablet station was provided. In the Auckland District I have found reference to several such stations. I have been unable to locate signalling files relating to them so it is possible others may have existed and I would welcome details of these and any additional information readers may be able to provide in respect of the following stations.
