摘要

I've been an HR consultant for 30 years. One of my saddest jobs is to facilitate redundancies. Tragically most of the positions being removed are held by the 45-50+ age group; people who are probably paid top dollar but who have mentally decided that: 1. "I'm probably not going any higher up the ladder." So they move into what I call 'quit and stay' mode - the body shows up every day but the motivation and passion are long gone. Commonly and sadly referred to as 'dead wood'. 2. "I'm too old to learn all this 'technology' stuff." So they don't keep pace with the technological changes hitting all of us every day and expect that to be OK. It isn't.
