This section describes selected developments of special importance or interest due to the achievement of a breakthrough or innovation in technology. Japanese auto makers have been working to promote safety technologies in conformance with the Ministry of Transportation's "Program to Promote the Development of Advanced Safety Vehicle(ASV)". The progress of the three industry leaders is described below.
