Prof. Masanori Abe of the Department of Physical Electronics and Prof. Hiroshi Handa of the Frontier Collaborative Research Center, both of Tokyo Institute of Technology, have jointly succeeded in establishing technology to synthesize complex particles consisting of proteins and magnetic substances by a simple process. The complex particles synthesized by the new process are prepared by mixing a divalent ferrous raw material and a protein together to synthesize magnetite from room temperature down to about 3℃ in a neutral and open atmospheric environment. It was fully confirmed that these particles display a high activity that is about five times those of particles produced by conventional processes.
