Niigata Electric Co., Ltd. has devel-oped a Simplified Type Microcomputerized Snowfall Sensor FS-55 that automatically actuates a snow-consuming water pump depending on the manner of snowfall. This snowfall sensor is marketed at a domestic price of ¥120,000. It directly detects falling snow flakes, so is not influenced adversely by the wind, and mounted in exposed state, so there is no misoperation due to low-temperature rain, and the snow consumption type enables water to be supplied efficiently whenever necessary.
