Leonid kuchma, President of Ukraine, addressed MPs in Westminster last July. In a previous incarnation he was technical director of the Baikonur Cosmodrome, so I asked him how he felt about space projects being divided among the independent states of the former Soviet Union. He replied that the sight of equipment wasting away "brings tears to my eyes".
