Canada's first synchrotron light source officially opens next month in the prairie town of Saskatoon. As well as producing super-intense light beams, the facility has another striking feature: spectacular windows that stretch around the perimeter of the stadium-size building. "It lets the community of Saskatoon and the community of Canada look in the window and see what's going on," says Jeff Cutler at the University of Saskatchewan and director of business development for the group managing the device.
