Dinosaur proteins have been recovered from a bone that had been encased in sandstone for 80 million years.rnIn 2007, Mary Schweitzer, a palaeontologist at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, reported the first-ever recovery of collagen from a Tyrannosaurus rex leg bone. Critics, however, argued that the samples could have been contaminated, since the bone had broken during excavation. Also, other labs failed to confirm the finding.
