There is perhaps no finer manifestation of the pursuit of greatness than a Rolex timepiece. It represents an ongoing commitment to innovation, horological expertise and the passion of skilled watchmakers. All add up to make the one principle by which Rolex lives: that greatness is a journey that never ends. The original Milgauss was a scientific breakthrough. For the first time, it allowed researchers the luxury of relying on their very own timepieces during laboratory experimentation. In 2007, Rolex unveiled an updated version of the Oyster Perpetual Milgauss. Crafted from 904L steel, its fusion of clean lines and distinctive features drew a new generation of admirers. The modern 40 mm model features a 3131 movement and self-winding rotor, an orange lightning-bolt second hand and luminescent indices. The Milgauss owes its resistance to magnetic fields to three key elements: the Parachrom~® hairspring, the nonmagnetic escape wheel of the movement and the magnetic shield (see insert) that protects them.
