Icy lake awakes after 2400 years

The world's most northerly lake, Kaffeklubben So, is coming back to life - the latest evidence that warmer temperatures in polar regions can result in rapid ecological change. At 83" north, on the coastal plain of northern Greenland, the 48-hectare lake looks out over the Arctic Sea. It was entombed beneath a near-permanent layer of ice 2400 years ago.
