When you are studying, having lots of choice can sometimes be frustrating. Remember how long it took to choose between the hundreds of slightly different undergraduate biology courses on offer up and down the country, or how the 50 dishes on the Chinese takeaway menu flummox you every time? One area where it really does pay to explore all the options, though, is choosing your PhD.
