Cost of pricey drugs

If your hernia operation gets cancelled in the UK, the US health system is probably to blame. That's one of the conclusions of a study exploring how the price of new drugs affects the availability of resources and value for money in the UK National Health Service. The researchers found that, overall, more people suffer than gain if the NHS buys expensive but marginally effective medicines (Health Technology Assessment, DOI:10.3310/hta19140).
