BOINGI Gravitational waves may have bounced a supermassive black hole from the centre of its home galaxy. Unless we are just looking at it from the wrong angle, that is. In a galaxy 8 billion light years away, a supermassive black hole a billion times the mass of the sun is far from home. It's more than 35,000 light years from the galaxy's centre, where such black holes usually live, and hurtling further out at 2000 kilometres per second.
