Fast growth forecast for TV in Eastern Europe

Digital television in Eastern Europe will grow rapidly over the next five years but will fail to reach 25-per-cent penetration, according to a management report from Informa Telecoms & Media. The report, Eastern European TV 10th Edition, forecasts that digital-television penetration will rise from 4.6 per cent at the end of 2005 to 23.4 per cent at the end of 2011, leaving 100 million homes still to upgrade. Much of the growth in digital television in the next five years will come from pay-TV platforms, says the report (see figs. 1, 2 & 3).
