World polyethylene consumption has now topped 60m t a year and is still growing.The polymer with the simplest molecular structure now accounts for just under one-third,by volume,of plastic materials used worldwide.In 2004,according to PlasticsEurope Deutschland (Frankfurt/Germany;www.vke.de),LD/LLDPE accounted for some 33m t of global consumption against 27m t for HDPE.
