Supporters of MHEG-5, the UK interactive-television standard, are seeking to exploit European broadcasters' concerns over the high costs of licensing the more widely-deployed MHP system by promoting their technology as a cheaper alternative. The first salvo in MHEG's new offensive was launched by David Cutts, director of MHEG specialists Strategy and Technology (S&T). He recently gave a presentation to members of DigiTAG, the European industry group that promotes digital-terrestrial tele- vision, which was highly critical of the current state of MHP deployment and suggested that they deploy MHEG instead.
