Sony this week hit out at suggestions that its new "open market" initiative for electronic content was likely to fail and insisted that it would instead create a digital-media "experience" that was "better than free". Industry observers have questioned the prospects of the Sony-led Digital Entertainment Content Ecosystem (DECE), a consortium that also includes Microsoft and all major Hollywood studios except Disney.
