The new digital-terrestrial transmission standard DVB-T2 will emerge as a global technology and represent a benchmark in broadcasting, according to the European body that developed the system. DVB-T2, the new standard for digital-terrestrial broadcasting that could be 50 per cent more efficient in its use of capacity than its predecessor, is now garnering international interest, according to Peter MacAvock, executive director of the DVB Project (DVB). "T2 represents the first truly international effort with interest from the Americas, Japan and China," said MacAvock, who added that there had also been "significant interest" from South Korea, which has already deployed the ATSC system developed in the US.
