Danish operator launches webTV

YouSee, the Danish cable operator owned by theTDC telecommunications group, last week entered the online television market with the launch of a 16-channel Web TV service. Web TV includes both national and international channels, including National Geographic and Viacom's MTV and Nickelodeon. For the first time in Denmark, claimed TDC, television content from different providers could be viewed online at a single website. Anders Blaunfeldt, director of product development at YouSee, said that the venture was part of a strategic move to create a platform that secured the technology and rights for media distribution in the future.
