Bosch and Samsung form lithiumion battery joint venture

A 50-50 joint venture (JV) between Germany's Robert Bosch GmbH and Samsung SDI has commenced operations. The objective of the new company, named SB LiMotive Co Ltd, is to develop, manufacture and sell lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries for automotive applications.rnThe JV proposed to begin mass-production of highly efficient battery systems customized to automotive requirements and to market them worldwide in 2011, and the partners are each putting up $300-400 million over the next five years.
