Scientists from the Graduate School of Engineering at Japan's Tohoku University exhibited a display made with a special resin sheet onto which images are projected from behind at CEATEC 2008. Simply by attaching the sheet to a glass or transparent plastic plate, it can be used as a flat-screen television (TV). Tohoku University developed the sheet with the help of the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization. A display manufactured using the resin sheet can show clear images, even in a bright, sunny environment. At the laboratory's stand at CEATEC, the university showcased a 200 cm (80 inches) display with a thickness of about 20 cm.
