Imott Inc, a venture company spun out by Japan's Tokyo Institute of Technology, has formed, at an exceptionally low temperature, a segment-structured diamond-like carbon film on the surface of a polyethylene terephthalate (PET) plastic sheet. The segment-structured diamond-like carbon (DLC) film was formed by chemical vapour deposition (CVD) and measures 0.35μm thick. It has been reported that the company prototyped a PET sheet with one side coated with the segment-structured DLC film and the other side coated with a continuous DLC film.
