Japan's Mitsubishi Rayon Co Ltd, in collaboration with Irish company Firecomms, has given a live demonstration of an internet protocol television (IPTV) home network that uses ultra-thin plastic optical fibre (POF). IPTV is a method of distributing television content over internet protocols, which enables a more customized and interactive user experience. The multi-room demonstration included several new devices working together to transmit multiple streams of high-definition and standard-definition IPTV signals across a fast ethernet network entirely comprised of POF.
