UK'S LARGEST INLAND FLOOD DEFENCE SCHEME OPENS IN NOTTINGHAM

New environment secretary Owen Paterson last week opened the UK's largest inland flood defence scheme - the Nottingham Left Bank Flood Alleviation Scheme. Costing £45M, £6M less than the original budget, the flood defence runs 27km along the River Trent travelling through the city centre and through Attenborough Nature Reserve, a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).
