THE NCE POLL: FLEXIBLE WORKING WOULD WORK IN INDUSTRY SAY CIVIL ENGINEERS

Widespread flexible working policies would be welcomed by the industry, say respondents to a recent NCE straw poll. Civil engineers were asked about their experiences of flexible working practices, as part of NCE's continuing investigation of equality issues. But of the civil engineers who responded, only 62% were aware of a flexible working policy in their company, 19% were unsure, and 19% said there was no policy in place. When asked if they thought flexible working enhanced work/ life balance, 93% agreed it would, and 75% said that flexible working did not interfere with a normal working day.
