Employers know about the social activity on their computers because employees talk about it. But, what kind of computer activities are employees engaging in that employers don't know about? If they are gambling, communicating with adult Web sites or even worse, sharing proprietary information while using company computers, then employers are missing the most damaging computer activity their employees are engaging in by simply blocking social sites. A keylogger placed on company computers would log every keystroke and let the employer know exactly what kinds of activities their employees are engaging in.
