Despite being able to purchase goods and services online for many years, it's only recently that many of us working in the web industry have been able to offer ecommerce as a service to our clients. Previously seen as expensive, overly complicated and the domain of large 'boxed' software producers, the emergence of hosted, theme-based platforms such as Shopify has levelled the playing field. This, coupled with cost-effective payment solutions like Stripe and Shopify Payments, means it's now possible for an 'evening and weekend' web designer to offer the same quality ecommerce experience as a full-stack agency.
