GFS; HIGH PERFORMANCE SHARED FILE SYSTEM ON SX-5 SERIES

摘要

This paper introduces GFS(Global File System) which has been developed for a high-performance client-server type network file system. It is implemented in the NEC SUPER-UX operating system. GFS realizes the speed of about 50MB/s for a 1MB file when using the NEC N7764 disk unit as a file server and using the HIPPI channel as the underlying network. Files in GFS can be accessed from any UNIX system using NES. Thus, transparency with NFS is retained.
