2019 Solberg Award

The Solberg Award, presented annually since 1967, is given to an individual who has made a significant contribution to naval engineering through personal research during the past three years. The award is named for Rear Admiral Thorwald A. Solberg, who was President of ASNE in 1949 concurrent with his tenure as the third Chief of Naval Research. Admiral Solberg's greatest forte was the pursuit of basic and applied research leading to solutions of shipboard problems. His long career as a naval engineer and researcher inspired the naval engineering research and development profession and this award.
