Risk reduction efforts over the past year included assessing two collision prevention algorithms as the basis for the Automatic Ground Collision Avoidance System (Auto-GCAS). The currently installed Terrain Awareness Warning System (TAWS) was compared to the F-16's Auto-GCAS system, and after evaluating an updated version of the TAWS algorithm, it was chosen as the CFIT prevention algorithm for the Auto-GCAS system.
