Letters of Seamen in the War with France, 1793-1815

There has been a substantial gap in available historical sources concerning enlisted English seamen during the wars with France. Helen Watt and Anne Hawkins attempt to fill this gap with their work, Letters of Seamen in the Wars with France 1793-1815, a collection of 255 letters relating to seamen in the Royal Navy below the rank of commissioned officer. The book is split into two parts: the first includes letters from 1793 to 1815, and the second focuses just on the mutinies in the Royal Navy during 1797.
