Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms (SNPs) are common genetic variations that are estimated to occur once every 100-300 base pairs. These subtle genetic variations underpin why individuals respond differently to drugs, diseases and other environmental factors. In order to detect and catalogue SNPs quickly and accurately high throughput systems are being developed, while new reagents, microarrays and services are becoming available.
