Silence is golden

摘要

RNA interference is a natural cellular mechanism by which RNA is specifically degraded. Small interfering RNAs, siRNA, use this mechanism to specifically knock-down and silence a particular gene and therefore provide a powerful tool in functional genomics. Innovations such as screening libraries and kits have enabled high-throughput analysis of siRNA and have extended its applications in the lab and beyond.
