Biomedical scientists want funding; private foundations want cures. Erika Check hears the joys and tensions that arise when the two hook up. Relationships are complicated beasts and they come with highs and lows. After the initial flush of attraction comes the getting-to-know-you stage, when the two parties realize they share common interests. Problems flare when things get serious. Each side has its own baggage, expectations and annoying habits, but needs to figure out how to live and work closely with the other. And once money gets involved, well - that's when things can get really convoluted.
