More Pain Studies Needed

More research is needed on how to determine when a laboratory animal is in pain and how best to alleviate that pain, says a report from the US National Research Council. That conclusion may sound familiar; a report last year called for more research into laboratory animal distress, and a 1992 study said that more work was needed on pain and distress.rnHowever, little has been done because thernroot problem - lack of money for such studies - has remained for decades.
