The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) might issue further restrictions on the use of antibiotics in farm animals, after a federal court in New York ordered it to take action on a 1977 finding that dosing livestock with penicillin and tetracyclines could promote the spread of drug-resistant bacteria.
