Technology for evaluating health in society

The National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) pursues knowledge and technology with the aim of benefiting society. To this end, the Kansai branch of the Health Research Institute of AIST is developing medical devices that can be used at hospitals and the research and development departments of medical companies. Although commonplace in many contexts, the term 'health' has become a keyword in the life sciences. Adopting a definition that goes beyond the treatment of solely physical ailments, researchers at the AIST Health Research Institute are developing technologies that address the individual's physical, psychological and social well-being.
