Baylor College of Medicine is located within the Texas Medical Center (TMC), the world's largest medical complex, boasting 54 institutions, 5,700 researchers, 5,000 physicians and 7,000 patient beds. The scale and variety provides great scope for collaborations between researchers and clinicians. Four years ago Baylor broadened its focus from basic research to increase attention to translational and early-stage clinical research. Or Adam Kuspa, an esteemed biochemist and molecular biologist, was charged with leading this effort.
