Getting support for academic research can be hard work. Sometimes researchers-especially in translational medicine-feel the need for speed. In response, GSK created the Discovery Fast Track Challenge. Scientists interested in discovering and developing small-molecule drugs can now get quick access to GSK's high-throughput screening infrastructure and expertise-potentially accelerating the discovery of innovative new medicines. Entrants simply fill out a one-page online form explaining the non-confidential aspects of their concept, submit it by the deadline, and wait for GSK's panel of judges to evaluate. Up to 20 finalists each from the USA/Canada and from Europe will be invited to meet with the judges in person and up to 10 potential selected scientists from each region could be working with a team of GSK's scientists to discover new molecules. The deadline for North American entrants is May 76. European entrants must submit no later than April 23.
